Meet Our Business Lenders

Justin started commercial lending in 2009 and, in 2010, he was promoted to Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer. In 2019, Justin became a Regional Vice President and works with clients in the Montpelier, Barre and central Vermont areas. He also works in Chittenden County taking appointments at the bank’s Loan Production Office in Burlington. Justin holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Champlain College, and has attended the Northern New England School of Banking as well as many Risk Management Association (RMA) trainings and seminars. Justin volunteers his time in support of local youth academic and sporting activities and is a past board member of both Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation and Montpelier Alive. In 2011, Justin was recognized as a Rising Star by Vermont Business Magazine. He is currently working in close coordination with the Montpelier Development Corporation.

Sarah began her career at Community National Bank in 2009. She transferred to the Commercial Credit Department in 2012, where she has continued to grow her knowledge in commercial credit and lending. Sarah has been named one of VT Business Magazine’s Rising Stars Class of 2021 for her commitment as a professional and her involvement in the community. Sarah is a graduate of Champlain College with a Bachelors in Business and a Professional Certificate in Paralegal Studies. She is also a graduate of the Northern New England School of Banking and Risk Management Association Commercial Lending School. She has several Center for Financial Training and Education Alliance diplomas and has attended many Risk Management Association trainings. Sarah is involved in her community serving as the Board Chair of Newport Downtown Development as well as being on the board of Green Mountain Farm to School. She also serves on the Vermont Chapter of the Risk Management Association (RMA) as well as the RMA National Chapter Development Council. 

Hope began working at Community National Bank in the Barton office. Hope has worked in many positions at various offices including Teller, Head Teller, Customer Service Representative, Personal Lender and Loan Officer. She was promoted to an Office Manager and then became Vice President and Senior Residential Mortgage Loan Officer. In 2010, Hope began serving commercial loan customers in Caledonia County. She works out of the Lyndonville office and also works out of the Newport office to assist with commercial loans in Orleans and Essex counties.

In March of 2023, Maureen Golden joined CNB as Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer. She will service the banking needs of commercial clients in Chittenden County. Maureen offers over 35 years of banking experience to her customers including extensive knowledge of retail banking, commercial real estate lending and all services related to business banking. She’s eager to sit and listen to any business owner ready to experience a sincere partnership with an experienced motivated financial professional backed by an organic Vermont Bank team. Maureen holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Management and an M.S. in Law. She will work out of the Burlington Loan Production office located in the Hickok & Boardman building on Shelburne Road.

Will has been an active Commercial Lender in Chittenden County since 2011. He joined the bank in 2015 as a Commercial Loan Officer. Will is a native of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom and is a graduate of North Country Union High School in Newport and St. Michael’s College in Colchester. He was promoted to Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer in 2019. He has completed several training programs, including the American Bankers Association (ABA) Advanced School of Commercial Lending. Will works out of our Loan Production Office in Burlington. 

Cathy has been providing banking services to the community since 1999. She has held many positions with Community National Bank including Teller, Personal Lender and Office Manager. In 2010, Cathy became a Residential Lender. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Small Business Management from Lyndon State College and has continued her banking education by earning a certificate of completion from the Northern New England School of Banking. Cathy currently spends time volunteering for her sons' school and watching their many sporting events.

Regan (Paquet) Howard services the banking needs of commercial clients in Washington and surrounding counties from our office in Barre. Regan is a career-banker with a demonstrated history of working in the banking industry, having been employed with local financial institutions all of her adult life. She is skilled in Finance, Commercial Lending, Banking and Credit Analysis, as well as loan structuring and SBA-lending. She has been instrumental in helping to train new staff in the Commercial Department. Regan is a Barre native, and enjoys working with multiple generations of business owners within her community. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Vermont Granite Museum, and takes pride in helping to preserve, honor and showcase Central Vermont’s rich granite heritage and industry. In her spare time she continues her family’s tradition of raising and selling some of the area’s best sweet corn and vegetables on the 110 year old Paquet family farm, along with her siblings, her children, and her four grandchildren.  She also loves deep sea fishing, and motorcycle riding.

In August of 2024, Anthony "Tony" Matz joined CNB as a Commercial Loan Officer. Tony joined the banking industry in 2012 as a Teller. He also worked as an Assistant Branch Manager and Branch Manager. He spent most of his career in retail banking and has now ventured into commercial banking. Tony graduated from Northern Vermont University and the Northern New England School of Banking. He has also taken Center for Financial Training & Education Alliance (CFTEA) courses including Consumer Lending, Analyzing Financial Statements, and Principals of Banking.

Holly started her career with Community National Bank in 1995 as a Teller in our Derby Office. In 2001, she joined the Trust Department, where she worked for a year before leaving for 9 years to start a family. Holly returned to CNB in 2010 as a Teller in our Troy Office, where she remained until 2020 when she accepted the position of Marketing Assistant. Pepin is a graduate of the Northern New England School of Banking and has a Bachelor of Science in Business from Northern Vermont University. Pepin has taken many classes through the Center for Financial Training & Education Alliance (CFTEA). She is a designated Certified Teller and has received a General Banking diploma.

Brandon began his career in banking as a Credit Analyst in 2002. A few years later, he became a Commercial Loan Officer in the Derby office and has been servicing loans for the Orleans and Essex counties ever since. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting and Business Administration from NVU-Lyndon. He’s taken classes from the Northern New England School of Banking and the American Bankers Association Foundational Commercial Lending School hosted at Southern Methodist University. Brandon has also taken courses through the Center for Financial Training and Education Alliance, formerly known as Northern New England Center for Financial Training, and the Risk Management Association (RMA) Commercial Lending School. Brandon volunteers his time and financial expertise to assist the Orleans County Farm Bureau and other non-profit organizations. He is a past member of the Advisory Committee of the Working Lands Enterprise Board, Orleans County Fair Board and St. Paul’s School Board. Brandon has also been a financial literacy presenter for North Country Career Center and North Country Union Junior High School. He enjoys spending time traveling with family and doing projects around his home in his free time.

David “Dave” Rubel joined CNB in 2014 as a Portfolio Manager after several years of working as an Area Business Advisor for the Vermont Small Business Development Center. In early 2019, Dave was promoted to Commercial Loan Officer. Dave is a graduate of The New England School for Financial Studies, ABA Commercial Lending School, and the Northern New England School of Banking. Dave is currently enrolled in the Isenberg School of Management, UMass Amherst MBA program. He is also a graduate of American University, Washington, DC. Dave is a past President of the Montpelier Rotary Club and served as a Director for the Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce. He was named as a Rising Star by Vermont Business Magazine in 2010. Currently, Dave sits on the board of Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation, advisory board for the Vermont Small Business Development Center, board of Barre Area Development Corporation, and board of the Risk Management Association Vermont Chapter.
